We all want a safe and healthy present and future for our descendants – our children but to get there we need to take actions. Thousands of little actions will help build that world that we want for them. Reusing bags and containers instead of getting new packaging each time you shop will help build that foundation for a vibrant future. Remember your bags!
Come and join us in this enlightening presentation about waste in our world and what we can do to address it. Zero-Waste Living with Bea Johnson will offer you inspiration to live your life with less waste being generated.
In an effort to encourage people to reduce the amount of packaging they consume in their daily lives we are launching our Wasteless Wednesday campaign. Find out how you can participate in #WastelessWednesday
Plastic-free July. Get 1$ loyalty reward point for each bag/container you use/refill. We want to encourage you to reuse/refill for the month of July and for it to become a long-term habit.
Here are some of my tips on reducing your plastic footprint and start on your way to be a zero-waste shopper.
We love that people are embracing the concept of refilling their own containers – Refill Don’t Landfill! In the past, we have accepted extra donated containers and bags from people. Unfortuantely, this has got a little out of hand so we have to put in some measures to control the flood of containers and bags.
Our store is asking the City of Edmonton to support our call for a Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban in the City of Edmonton. Please sign this petition.
Reuse Don’t Landfill! Another example how Earth’s General Store does things differently than any other store. We salvaged these bags that were destined for the waste stream so that our customers can reuse them before they are recycled. Reusing shows respect and honours the resources that went into making them.
Our second annual Harvest Swap and Gifting is an opportunity to share your excess harvest produce from your garden with others. Drop off your excess and if there is something that catches your eye pick it up and take it home to use.
Worm Composting is a way that people can turn their organic ‘waste’ into an excellent soil amendment/fertilizer. Though Earth’s General Store does not offer worms any longer this web page provides lots of information about Vermicomposting.
