Growing Organically and Remineralization

Growing Organically and Remineralization  Organic cultivation is about doing no harm and feeding the soil so the plants that grow are healthier and will resist disease and insects. One aspect of organic cultivation that is often overlooked is that the minerals in our soils have been slowly become depleted in essential minerals since the last ice age. […]

List of Permaculture Books at Earth’s General Store

Someone asked me to provide her a list of the permaculture books that we carry. When I wrote the list I did not realize we had so many. I thought I would share it with everyone else. This list does not include our books on Organic Gardening, beekeeping, chicken coops, house building and such. AND definitely not including our listing of Vegan, Vegetarian, Plant Based and Raw recipe books which would be about 10 times longer :).

Dried White Mulberries Available at Earth’s General Store

Today we received several calls about dried white mulberries. This is unusual for this product. When one of the staff asked a caller why the interest, they said they saw it on Dr Oz. Yes, we do carry dried white mulberry. We carry the packaged product and we even carry this in bulk at $36.00 per kilogram. Save money, save packaging, and save landfill space!

True Ceylon Cinnamon

True Ceylon Cinnamon a really popular product and I assume it is difficult to find since quite a few people are finding their way to the store to find this scarce health product. They are wary about whether the cinnamon we carried was true cinnamon from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) when they first contact us since the majority of cinnamon out there is not true cinnamon. True Ceylon cinnamon is also called Mexican Cinnamon because this is the only cinnamon they use in their cuisine.

Price Comparison Superstore and Earth’s General Store

The other day I was cycling up by Londonderry (attending a meeting) and I was early so I thought I would head over to Superstore to do some price comparisons. Why Superstore? Well a lot of people shop at Superstore and many of the natural/organic shoppers do as well. I assume that a lot of them shop there because of convenience and they assume that they are getting the best deal.

This would be a good assumption to make so I thought I would test it. I had a limited time there so just quickly started writing down random items that I knew we carried. Most were exactly the same brands with the exception of the coffee (we roast our own Fair Trade Certified Organic and we could not provide a price comparison with the Nut’s To You nut butters since the ones they offer are not the organic line – only ‘natural’). I was quite surprised that we were even less than they were on 2% milk (President Choice Organic milk versus Vital Green non-homogenized milk).
