Bulk Spices and Herbs
A while ago I spent several hours at the Safeway store in Bonnie Doon writing down prices and information from their spices and herb section. I wanted this information so that I could do a comparison against our bulk spices and herbs prices.
I think you will be gobsmacked at the price differences and how much you can save (and the resources you can save by refilling). Would you like to save 10% off your spices and herbs? How about 20%, or 50%? You can easily realize savings of over 50% compared to the prices I recorded on February 9th, 2019 when you chose to come by our store and refill your containers from our bulk spices and herbs.
The spreadsheet got a little busy but here is a condensed version. My methodology was that I recorded the price and the weight of each product at Safeway. I then used our price from bulk to calculate the price it would be to refill the same amount into the bottle. The second column (EGS Price) was that calculation. The other column indicates how much money you save over the packaged McCormick price. Some of these savings are SUBSTANTIAL!

I also collected information on the Club House brand – larger volumes and usually packed in plastic, not glass bottles or plastic bags. None of these spices are organic and ONLY two items had prices lower than our bulk spices and herbs prices (garlic powder and black peppercorns).

ALSO – you can save a shit load of money on refilling your vanilla extract and other flavourings from our bulk. Check out this list (the savings is the amount you will save by refilling your container). The first column is non-organic Club House brand and the second one is non-organic Safeway’s Compliment brand. Refilling the Club House vanilla bottle you would save 8.62$ (they sell this 125mL bottle for 17.99$ so you would be saving 48%). Isn’t this worth a trip to our store.

We are also putting little stickers on our bulk bottles so that you have an idea of how much it will cost you to refill a regular container. These listed prices are guides only since prices change and you could put more or less in the container.
